These past few months have been busy ones for our little woodland household. I've been to the coast for a visit with my Mom, (and to drop by Paradise Fibers on the way - who can resist if you're heading that direction?) Come home briefly to hold down the fort so that my spouse-creature could hop on a plane to fly out to pick up the newest member of our household (don't worry, photo with introduction below.) After which I hit the road again to attend, assist with & teach a natural dye session at the Yarn & Yoga At the Hot-springs retreat with Kate Larson !
Through out all of it I've had knitting projects & at least a spindle on me as I've driven & taken trains across the Northwestern US. Suffice to say that I'm now fully inspired,
but also allowing myself to take a little bit of a break. There has been so much in such a short span of time that I don't think I could fit it all into a single update.
Paradise Fibers was, as one would expect, a wonder to walk through and take in. It's the closest large scale shop with spinning and weaving supplies available in my region. My Mom was very patient with me as I wandered the back wool room opening bins and touching fiber from sheep breeds I've yet to spin as I narrowed down my choices & then went on to take an entire hour choosing out yarns for a color work sweater. There will be more on that as I work through my projects & share them with you.
If you'd like more regular updates from me please do check out my Instagram (@woolywitchofthewest) as I'm pretty chatty there - added bonus: There are regular Pupdates on both Miss Moon-Dog, and this handsome fellow to the left.
Introducing Gamanrunar (Runi for short!) He is an Icelandic sheepdog, intrepid explorer, mischief maker and all around very good boy. Our lives and household are both a bit brighter now that we're back to having two dogs in them, & Moon-dog is glad for a playmate as well.
(Also pictured here: beloved hat in need of some mending, & the Meandering Shawl by Stephen West knit in local to me indy dyed Polkadot Sheep yarns, colors: Summer storm (specie background) & Juneberry (purple.)
